The power of good advertising has convinced people, especially parents, to believe that ‘Milk Does A Body Good’. For decades we have been led to believe that we need it for growth and development, healthy bones, daily calcium intake, etc. We have been inundated to such a point that you are thought foolish not to drink milk or provide it for your family.

But, is there another side to the story, a side the milk industry does not want you to discover?

Milk Is Acidic

Milk consumption promotes weight gain and inhibits weight loss in a number of ways. One mechanism of action is promoting an acidic environment. Our bodies are designed to function optimally when our biochemistry is normal and well regulated. Acidic foods, like milk, negatively impact our biochemistry and physiology.

The net effect is a biological need to increase fat cells to buffer an acidic environment. In lay terms, people who drink milk will inevitably grow fatter and sicker over time.

Milk And Stronger Bones Myth

Yes, milk contains calcium and vitamin D. But, what kind, and more importantly, what is the net effect of metabolizing milk? Wisely, this topic is not part of any milk advertising campaign.

There are different kinds of calcium and vitamin D, organic and inorganic (natural and synthetic). Milk is often fortified with the cheaper inorganic version of these elements. Inorganic calcium and synthetic vitamin D are not easily digested or utilized in our body. Just like our body cannot utilize iron from a magnet, it cannot properly utilize the inorganic, synthetic ingredients in milk.

Additionally, the milk metabolism process requires use of naturally occurring calcium in the body. In essence, this leads to a robbing Peter to pay Paul phenomenon. For this reason and others, milk consumption will actually create weaker bones over time.

Milk Is Filled With Toxins

In 1994  the US Food and Drug Administration approved the use of rGBH, recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone. rGBH in milk is believed to increase our risk of cancer. For this very reason, Europe has wisely banned US produced milk.

The U.N. Food Safety Agency representing 101 nations worldwide, has also banned rBGH milk in the 101 nations that it represents. Canada is another country where rBGH milk is banned.

Long story short, rGBH is a genetically modified Monsanto product that mimics the natural cow hormone responsible for stimulating milk production. It is widely used by US dairy farmers to maximize production and profit. 

The problem here is that cows given rGBH produce up to 80% more IGF-1 hormone. Researchers all over the world are claiming that increasing this hormone in humans will increase risk of breast, colon and prostate cancer.

“The public health committee confirmed earlier reports of excess levels of the naturally occurring Insulin-like-Growth Factor One (IGF-1), including its highly potent variants, in rBGH milk and concluded that these posed major risks of cancer, particularly of the breast and prostate, besides promoting the growth and invasiveness of cancer cells by inhibiting their programmed self-destruction (apoptosis).” Source: Samuel S. To make matters worse, somehow how the milk industry has created a situation where they don’t have to label rGBH produced milk.

One more thing… how do you think IGF-1 increase from milk consumption will affect our biology relative to things like: insulin levels, pancreatic function, blood sugar regulation, metabolic efficiency, fat metabolism, energy production, diabetes risk, etc? Our guess is… nothing good!

What About Organic Milk?

Organic or not, we don’t need milk to be healthy. There are better ways to get our vitamins, proteins and fat. We would be wise to just stay away from it altogether.
